Doreen & Joe are Married!! - Jacksonville FL Wedding Photographer

I'm in love with this couple and have been anxious to blog their pictures! Doreen and Joe are truly each other's best friend, and anyone that meets them will just know how much in love they are with each other. I've known them since last Fall when Doreen and Joe contacted me for wedding photography. I instantly fell in love with their Northern accent, and lo and behold, I come to find out that they are from Jersey area :)

Doreen has such good taste on the bridesmaids dresses and jewelries. I used to be never fond of the color grey/silver, but I see a lot of brides nowadays incorporating that color in their weddings. Doreen added the color fuschia to pop amongst the silver--and what a beautiful combination!! Loove the bridesmaids dresses and shoes :) Check out her bouquet also! Doreen is Irish and had Bells of Ireland flowers in her bouquet. I never knew what they look like until now--simply gorgeous!

I'm happy that I got to be a part of their special day, and I'd like to thank Shain Petty also for helping me out at their wedding! Congratulations, Doreen and Joe!! You guys are not too far from where I live, so hit me up whenever ya'll need a coffee break :)

XOXO

DOREEN & JOE'S LOVE STORY:

How did you guys meet?
We met at a hospital we both worked at in New Jersey. We knew each other for about seven years as colleagues before we started dating.

Describe the proposal:
December 28,2008. My entire family (except for my brother and sister-in-law who live in Chicago) were at our house for a post Christmas gathering. It was an unusually hot day and most of us were sitting in the backyard. My father comes out, then my brother-in -law and then Joe who takes my hand and begins to talk. He often says my family makes decisions"by committee". He is talking to me and then he says, "this is not a decision you can make by committee." He gets down on his knee and asks me to marry him. I say yes, begin to cry and everyone starts to congratulate us. He had my engagemnet ring made and my Mom had been in on the design, and Joe had formally asked my Dad for my hand on Christmas Day. It is a day I will never forget, and my niece captured it all in photos!!

What is your favorite thing to do on your date night?
Either go to dinner or stay at home and watch a good movie.

What is your wedding invitation like and where did you go to get it done?
Very simple, ivory with a gold lily of the valley at the top. Beautiful lined envelopes with a brown scroll design. They were Martha Stewart my Mom found at Big Lots for $2.00/box. We printed them ourselves and ended up spending $10.

What are your wedding colors and why did you guys choose that color palette?
Silver, Fuscia and Green. I am a preppy at heart and love Pink and Green. The silver was a classic color to me and when I put the three together, I thought it went well.

Describe your wedding cake:
Done by the Chef at the Marriott Sawgrass. Basically a strawberry shortcake with cream cheese frosting. Simple design with our monogram.

Describe your wedding flowers:
I had such a hard time with flowers. Originally I wanted hydrangeas, but they were too ROUND and boring. So when I met with my florist, she suggessted the ranunculus with some hydrangea and calla lilies. I wanted to include the Bells of Ireland and she did a great job of incorporating these into our bouquets and pew markers.

What is your First Dance song at you reception?
"Taking You Home" by Don Henley was our song. This was on a CD that Joe gave to me as his first Christmas gift.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Marco Island, Florida.....Heaven.

What are you looking forward to in the future together?
Continuing the wonderful life we have made together in Jacksonville.
