Lisa & Scott's Wedding - Jacksonville Beach FL Wedding Photographer

We are so blessed to have Lisa and Scott as one of our brides and grooms. They've been in several weddings that we have photographed before (Mike & Ruby's and Rob & Soucki's weddings), and we are so happy that we got to capture their own fairy tale wedding too :) Lisa is one of those brides that you instantly know you're going to be good friends with when you first meet her. Besides the fact the she's a Team Jacob and I'm a Team Edward, she's still a pretty cool bride :) Scott likes anything that has to do with cage fighting, and that's pretty cool in our book :)

Lisa has that outgoing and sweet personality, and Scott's quiet and charming persona is just perfect for their relationship. I had so much fun doing their engagement session with their two adorable Boston terriers last Fall, and I'm happy to be a part of their big day! LISA & SCOTT'S LOVE STORY:

How did you guys meet?

In 2005, I worked as a nurse assistant and Scott's mother was a patient of mine. She mentioned to me that she wanted me to meet her son because she felt we would make a great couple. For the 3 months that his mother was in the hospital (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) I had never met her son, but everyone else at work had met him. Finally, the day came when she was able to be discharged from the hospital. She asked for my number to give to her son. I felt awkward giving her my numnber, but after those months in the hospital, your patients become your family (though I didn't realize how literal this would be). A few days later he called me, and we spoke on the phone for a couple weeks. We finally decided to meet....and now here we are over 4 years later getting married!

Describe the proposal:

When we first met, Scott mentioned a placed called Big Talbot Island that he wanted me to see. It's a gorgeous beach that is covered with driftwood. We went there and walked along the beach just enjoying the view. Then life happened, and we never made it back out to the island. We had just decided to start a 'family' and got 2 little Boston Terriers (Rosco and Sasha). We wanted to take them somewhere they could run and play. Scott mentioned taking them to Big Talbot Island since it had been so long since we were there. We walked along the beach and took pictures of the dogs playing and seeing water for the first time. Then we sat against a tree and he got down on one knee and proposed! It was beautiful...it was perfect!

What is your favorite thing to do on your date night?

Just spending time with each other, whether it's going out or bumming on the couch with a movie.

What are your wedding colors and why did you guys choose that color palette?

Blue and Green. We chose these colors because it was a beach wedding, and we both love the colors.

Describe your wedding cake:

Publix, because you can't go wrong :) It was a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and that wonderful buttercream frosting :) We wanted a beach theme, so we added shells to the cake, but we didn't want to go with a traditional wedding topper. We thought we'd go for one that truly expressed us ;) Hehehe...He said he liked the "ball and chain" concept, so as soon as we saw the topper, we knew it's what we wanted! :)

Describe your wedding flowers:

My main flowers were orchids, but since my girls are in different dresses to suit them, I decided to have each of them with different white flowers as well (i.e. daisies, mims, roses, hydrangeas, calla lillies).

What is your First Dance song, Father/Daughter song, and Mother/Son song at your wedding reception?

First Dance: "Best Friend" by Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill
Father/Daughter: "I Loved Her First" by Heartland
Mother/Son: "A Song for my Son"

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Italy! It was both our first times in Europe. We went to Venice, Florence, and Rome.

What are you looking forward to in the future together?

Just spending time with each other and building our lives together :)
