I've been anxious to photograph this couple's wedding since we did our engagement session last Fall in St. Augustine. I love how they are in love with each other. It really shows on the photographs how much Cass and Bret adore and care for one another. I also love how they just know how to work it in front of the camera. Cass once told me that watching "America's Next Top Model" really helped, and she rocks for doing that :) They remind me of certain Hollywood celebrities--Bret as a young Hugh Grant and Cass as Friday Night Light's Minka Kelly :)
Speaking of Hollywood, you MUST read the unabridged version of how they met on their Knot.com wedding page!! It is just like what you would see in a Hollywood flick :) Not to mention, Bret is an amazing writer--so grab your iPad, sit down and read more about this lovely couple!
Bobby and I had a wonderful time at their wedding! It was also great to see our past wedding couple there, Stephanie and Patrick, and our future wedding couple, Melody & Wayne! Cassidi and Bret truly have awesome family and friends :) By the way, they are flying in from their loong Italy honeymoon as I type this! Welcome back, lovebirds!! America (and your furbabies) miss you guys!! :)
Enjoy!
XOXO
If I have my story right, I believe Cass made this shirt for her daddy when she was 6-yrs-old!
Somehow this reminds me of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" video! :)
My past, present, and future brides all together in one night!! :)
How did you guys meet?
Well, the long version is on our Knot.com page, but the Cliff Notes version is that fate brought us to the same random Blues Bar in the same random city at the same random time two nights in a row. The second night I chased Bret outside & introduced myself. The rest is history.
Describe the proposal:
Bret surprised me with a random stop in St. Augustine where we "randomly" ate at the same restaurant and walked the same streets as one of our first dates. I had an idea as to what was up at this point - this girl's not dumb - & when music started playing & we walked to a fountain we had kissed by he got down on one knee and I started cracking terrible jokes ... because that's what I do when I get nervous. I then blew up my phone calling everyone I knew and telling them.
What is your favorite thing to do on your date night?
Movies on our couch with a steak on my laptop & dos perros & my man snuggled up next to me.
What do you love about him so much?
How much he loves me!! Also... he's funny, he tolerates (and even likes!) my insane family, and makes me happy when I'm sad. All of him, every part.
What do you love about her so much?
Everything. Her crazy sense of humor, how she's up for any adventure we can think of, how big her heart is, that she gets me and how we're on the same page 98% of the time (the moons and tides throw it off sometimes).
What is your wedding invitation like and where did you go to get it done?
Magnetstreet.com - it resembles a plane ticket which we thought was appropriate since over half the guest list wasn't local.
What are your wedding colors and why did you guys choose that color palette?
Navy & light pink because I couldn't find the purple I wanted for the bridesmaids dresses. I didn't want a Minnesota Vikings wedding (which the groom was alright with) but it turned out beautifully.
Describe your wedding cake:
I think it was green. Maybe some pink in there too. That part of the night was a blur and it came together last minute - we're not big cake people and those things get expensive!! It tastes great and turned out nice.
Describe your wedding flowers:
Light pink hydrangeas and my wedding bouquet as well as the groom's boutineers had mini callah lillies in memory of my grandmother. It was her favorite flower and we were very close.
What is your First Dance song, Father/Daughter song, and Mother/Son song at your wedding reception?
Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Stevie Wonder
Mi Nina Bonita - Vicente Fernandez
Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Italia! The whole thing, top to bottom - we're conquering it.
What are you looking forward to in the future together?
Everything. Babies, laughing, travelling, life - our world's are better with each other in them.

Another feather to your photographer hat! I love the shoes and the rings shot but my favorite one is where the rings are in the Bible :)
Love,
Mom
