Wynton Marsalis and Marcus Roberts at The Parlour - Jacksonville FL Event Photographer

Love that I got a last-minute call from the co-owner of Jacksonville's latest hot venue, The Parlour. Bob Smith co-owns The Parlour and Grape and Grain Exchange in San Marco, and he called me to see if I can take photos for him on the same day Wynton Marsalis and Marcus Roberts made a last-minute and secret appearance to the venue.  I have to admit that I don't listen to Jazz, but I agreed to take some behind-the-scene shots.  Bob is my high school friend's husband, and anything to help them out, I was up for it!  Besides, how can I turn down going to a "secret show" to see Wynton, the Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC and a Jazz legend!

I met Wynton and Marcus, and they both changed my mind in regards to Jazz. Wow, they were both amazing, and Wynton brought the Parlour down with his trumpet!  It was so great to be about five feet away from him, and I may or may not have my mouth open and possibly drool.  The way his fingers worked its way on his trumpet and how hard he blew into it to produce such amazing sounds was quite magical!  Yeah, I appreciated classical music before, and now I've become a fan of Jazz as well.

Here are some photos I took from the event.  It was REALLY dark and crowded in there that night, and it was challenging to take these photos, but I'm stoked that I got to be there and witness Wynton and Marcus make musical romance to their audience.  Applause goes to the other band players, as well, for helping bring down The Parlour that night!
