HALEE & MICHAEL’S LOVE STORY:
- How did you guys meet?
I've attended Hilliard First since I was born. Michael came about two years ago, with his parents. We played on a church co-ed softball team together. I played 2nd, he pitched. (My number was 22, Michael's 33, I just thought that's a cute side note!) So we kinda just met at church. Michael attended First Baptist downtown until his family joined our church. They had visited other churches, but of course, God has bigger reasons for his family coming to Hilliard than they thought! =)
- Describe the proposal:
Ahh, Christmas Morning... Deep down in my heart I knew that it was coming sometime before the end of the year, but I had talked myself out of believing it would be Christmas. "Little" known fact about me, I go crazy at Christmas, hands down my favorite day of the year. Well, I woke up extremely early, drove to Jacksonville to Michael’s parents to open presents. (Got a failure to yield ticket/warning on the way there…bummer!!) Anyway, they have a tradition, that once presents are distributed, you have to take turns, one by one, have everyone watch you, and open a gift. I grab this gift bag, and peeked inside, pulled out my second favorite thing…bedroom slippers!! I thought that was all that was in the bag, and as Michael says, I "threw the bag on the ground".... He told me to look again, and I found this cute little silver box taped to the bottom.. Still believing it would be earrings or a necklace, I opened the box and to my surprise, I found a ring, he slid off the couch, took my hand, asked me if I'd marry him, and I replied, "Of Course!” Everyone cried! It's my perfect proposal!! Nothing super over the top…and on Christmas!!!!
- What is your favorite thing to do on your date night?
Go to dinner, and return to the couch to cuddle up and watch our favorite show or a movie... Or an outgoing with the family, both sets of parents, brother and sisters, and of course, the twins!!
- What is your wedding invitation like and where did you go to get it done?
We bought our invitations from Office Depot, They were white with silver swirls on the side. Then did the formatting to exactly what we wanted, and printed all the invitations and RSVPs myself... hand fed, a TON of them! But we ended up saving .40 cents an invitation. =)
- What are your wedding colors and why did you guys choose that color palette?
I've dreaded of my wedding since I was young, and changed my colors 100 times. Then threw it all out the window and started from scratch when Michael proposed. We chose Watermelon Pink and Colbalt Blue. It's girly, but a sense of "boy" also! I saw the color swatches laid out on "The Knot" and fell in love. It was perfect!
- Describe your wedding cake:
A simple yet unique three layered vanilla cake with fondant icing! YUM!
- Describe your wedding flowers:
My mother and I used to work as florist a couple of years ago. Her best friend (aka Pat Pat) and Patti's mother (aka Aunt Net) also do flowers. So we met and sat down and picked out the flowers together. THEY WERE BREATH TAKING! We chose 24" flower towers in colbalt and all my favorite pink and white flowers. Terri from Callahan Flowers and More really helped us out when we first started, and she came through again but letting us invade her shop and arranging. I couldn't have imagined the flowers any prettier!!
- Where did you go for your honeymoon?
5-day cruise to Key West and Nassau, it was awesome!
- What are you looking forward to in the future together?
We're looking forward to God's will for our lives. Our prayer is our marriage will glorify him. We're praying for a family together and serving together in ministry at our church.
