Awakening!

Heard a great message from church today about prayer and fasting. Today is the first day of my 21-day commitment of nothing but fruits, veggies, juices, and liquids only. It's going to be tough because I love hamburgers and Chik-fil-A! My purpose of fasting is not only to get rid of the toxins in my body, but to have a closer relationship with God. I get so consumed with work, photography, editing, television, Facebook, fashion magazines, political media, economy crisis..must I go on.. that I just need a break and get deeper with my spiritual soul.

Our soul needs some fine-tuning too like our cars, and that closer walk with God is what I long for. Agreement. Alignment. Assignment. To feed our souls starts with an agreement, then we will experience alignment in our lives, and then we can go out there and carry out the assignment.

There's something that I feel God is calling me to do, but I'm not even sure if I'm just hearing things because I really want to do this since high school but never really did anything about it. When I do think about this opportunity, I start doubting...so therefore, I'm fasting to really see if this is a "true calling."

Dear family, friends, and blog readers, please keep me in your prayers and good thoughts for the next three weeks. I want to step up to the plate and do something to serve the Lord, and I just pray that everything will fall into right places when the fasting is over.

Blessings!
xoxo

**I challenge and support you to feed your soul too! Please check out the Awake's website to know more about praying and fasting :)

You can do it Cory!! I am loving it. I feel so great about myself and I love preparing for the day by reflecting on His word and reading the daily devotional on the Awakening website. I am so filled with joy, and it's a powerful thing! Matt already "adjusted" his fast to two days. I'm going for the long haul!! Oh, and banana chips and dried cranberries are my new friend! : )

I had a nightmare last night that I accidentally ate a sandwich. Haha! During my waking hours, I am alert and tuned in and I know I'm good! Definitely would love to share some ideas for food with you.

I am on board with you Cory. I am in it for the long haul too... It won't be hard if we keep our focus on God and I think it will help too if we remember that what we are wanting to see and hear from God is worth more than the foods we eat. And don't worry- I plan to have fast friendly foods at the party. =o)

Good for you Cory. I too can relate to being "busy" and consumed by things in the world. I've fasted coffee that which has had a "hold" and it really is liberating. I'll be praying for you. Thanks for sharing the link.

Kudos to you! I can't fast right now because I'm pregnant, but I can definitely do prayer.

Thanks for all of the support and love, everyone!! When I start to crave for chicken, I just go back to this post and read everyone's comments. I don't want to let you guys down, and of course, to the main reason why I'm doing this :) It's very hard, but I'm trying and I have two more weeks to go! xoxo
