Kona Skatepark Photo Session - Jacksonville FL Lifestyle Photographer

Just about a month ago, I had the pleasure to photograph the young and talented Hal Scarborough at where I used to work, KONA Skatepark in Jacksonville FL! Watch out, he'll be the next Tony Hawk! About a couple of weeks ago, Hal competed in a tough competition in Atlanta and won fourth place in his age division--that's pretty good considering there were probably A LOT of other competitors in such a young age :) I'm so happy Lisa and Stephanie connected with me in regards to taking pictures of Hal skateboarding so they can use the photos for his sponsors! Stephanie told me that she particularly liked the closed-up shot of his over-used shoes to show how much Hal practices :) Perhaps it could be used as an ad to help Hal find a shoe sponsor? ;)

Going back to KONA Skatepark for a photo-shoot was pretty cool since the last time I was there, I was still working behind the equipment rental counter...and that was almost a decade ago! That's where I also met Bobby for the first time. Too bad Bobby choose to play golf over skateboarding now because I really enjoyed taking pictures of him doing some skate tricks! :) Hopefully, I get to photograph Hal again in the future as he advances :)

Enjoy!
XOXO

Scuba Diving in the Philippine Islands!

Figured I'll blog one more post since it's raining right now and Bobby and I can't go out and enjoy our resort's swimming pool-haha! We spent a day in Sipaway Island scuba diving and checking out beautiful coral reefs with my second cousins. Luckily, one of them is a photographer, and I'm so happy that Manong Marlon was able to document our fun day! More to come soon :) And oh yeah, love that I was wearing an adult wet suit since they had none for kids (my size)--haha!! :)

Sweet Client Review - Jacksonville FL Wedding Photographer

Hi guys! I've been really slow on updating my blog right now since I'm taking a vacation break before it gets busy again in February with all the baby sessions I have lined up and the wedding season officially kicking off in March for me :) Bobby and I are enjoying our time here in my home country, the Philippines, and will share more pictures soon! The Internet connection here is way too slow for me, so I'll probably post them when we come back--haha :)

I'm finally catching up with emails, and just want to share with ya'll the lovely messages my clients have sent to me--totally humbling :) I can't wait what 2011 will be like especially if 2010 was simply amazing, and I had the BEST clients ever!! :)

XOXO

Hello Corinna =)

Its starting to get very cold here right now....sometimes 15.8 Fahrenheit during night time....snow is also in the forecast for later this week! You were so lucky that you got to go to Miami. I heard its quite warm in southern Florida recently! Lucky!

My reactions were Wow wow WOW when I looked at the rest of the pictures! They are amazing! I can't wait to see Johnson's reaction when he sees them =p. You know, you definitely gave your heart to every shot you took (and i do mean EVERY shot!). Plus I really have no idea how you managed to take very nice shots given the wind was blowing in every directions! I guess working with the wind rather than against it was a really good idea!! We were talking about visiting Orlando again in 3 years the other day. We hope you're still a photographer by then because we definitely would love to have new photos shot by you! =)

By the way, please say hi to Bobby for us! =)

With loads and loads of love,

Joyce =)

One day ago...
you helped capture so many moments of our wedding! Thank you for being a part of our special day! I love the stunning and so-cool gazebo shots! I also can't believe the beautifully creative detail shots you took (dress, shoes, etc) as our church is pretty simple and not easily photogenic. And I love the shot of the groomsmen taking a picture of our first kiss with my sister cracking up:)

I'm still finishing the Love Story Answers, but here are the rest of our vendors:

Happy Belated New Year!

December Wedding - Jacksonville FL Wedding Photographer

Congratulations to our December bride and groom!! Bobby and I had a great time at their wedding. Mindy's family flew in from the West Coast, and it was wonderful getting to know them. The bridal party was so much fun, and it was great seeing A LOT of familiar faces on that day! The groom went to the same university as I did, and he was in Campus Crusade for Christ. I've gone to several CCC events back in college days, and that's how I know a lot of their friends :) A high school friend of mine, Andrea, was one of Mindy's bridesmaids. I also knew one of the groomsmen, Nate Deremer, who is also a local wedding photographer. I'm so grateful to him for referring this sweet couple to our way! Thanks, Nate :)

The couple had a long honeymoon, and I'm sure they're still enjoying the newlywed bliss :) I don't have their Love Story nor the complete wedding vendor information ready for you guys, but I'll be sure to update this post when I have those available :)

Enjoy!

XOXO

How did you guys meet?

We met through friends and were friends for about a year before he asked me out in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-a:)

Describe the proposal:

We were both in California (my homestate:) and visiting the picturesque Crystal Cove beach cottages with my family. After dinner the first evening of the trip, he asked if I would like to take a walk on the beach to see the sunset - something we can't do on the eastern coast of Florida. When we found a pretty spot, we laid out a towel and we sat to watch for a bit. He wanted to take a picture of me and the sunset, and after he had taken a couple of me, I asked to take one of him and he said, "No, just one more," but when he went to "take the picture," he said, "Shoot! low battery!" I ran over to see what was wrong with the camera, and when he went to go take out the "spare batteries" out of his camera bag, he pulled out a ring!! I started smiling, but since he was still standing, I waited to see what he would say and when he would go down on one knee ;) I don't think I quite even heard what he said, but he did get down on one knee and ask me to marry him and I said 'Omigosh! YES!!!" A neat touch was that after he proposed, a ladybug started crawling over us :) We celebrated, and took pictures, and prayed together. Then we walked back to the beach cottage. A rule at the cottages is that you are supposed to sweep the sand off your feet before going inside. So the first thing we did as an engaged couple was to clean each other's feet and sandals off with a brush. It was a symbolic way to start our engagement with serving one another. After that we went up the stairs to the cottage and we got to celebrate with my family and some of their friends that were visiting. We were both all smiles :)

What is your favorite thing to do on your date night?

Walk and talk, try new restaurants, sing in the car, watch "Chuck."

What is your wedding invitation like and where did you go to get it done?

What are your wedding colors and why did you guys choose that color palette?

The colors that emerged were sangria, green, and purple.

Describe your wedding cake?

The tiered cake served to guests was all white with details to mimic my dress. We chose two flavors: marble cake with buttercream filling and chocolate cake with coconut filling. Also, I was so thankful that Classic Cakes was willing to make a one-tier, small matching dairy-free cake for me so I could eat cake without any stomach-ache worries! (This was the one that we cut into at the cake cutting).

Describe your wedding flowers:

Roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, and green hypericum berries.

What is your First Dance song, Father/Daughter song, and Mother/Son song at your wedding reception?

"Love Is Not A Fight" (Warren Barfield, Fireproof Soundtrack); "A Song for my Daughter" (Ray Allaire); "My Wish" (Rascall Flats).

Hawaii :)

Sarah & Mike's Baby First Birthday - Jacksonville FL Family Photographer

Just about a week or so after Sarah and Mike's baby lifestyle photo shoot, we celebrated their baby's first birthday celebration! I love documenting 1-year birthday parties! It is always such a fun time, and I love it when the baby smashes his/her cake while trying to eat it ;) Sarah and Mike had the party at their home with families and close friends--and it was simply perfect :)

Enjoy!
XOXO
